Russian Commander Leading Vovchansk Attacks "Eliminated" By Ukraine

Ukrainian troops targeted and killed the Russian colonel commanding the regiment attempting to advance on Ukrainian positions east of Vovchansk.

This is yet another senior Russian officer eliminated by accurate Ukrainian reconnaissance and firing. JL

The Kyiv Post reports:

Ukrainian Forces have eliminated the Russian colonel commanding the 83rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 69th Motorized Rifle Division who was leading assault operations in the Velykyi Burluk direction east of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region. Russian forces have recently attempted to expand the line of contact and break through Ukrainian defenses toward Velykyi Burluk.

Ukrainian Defense Forces have eliminated Colonel Lebedev, according to a report by the operational-strategic grouping of troops “Khortytsia.” The Russian commander of the 83rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 69th Motorized Rifle Division was reportedly leading assault operations in the Velykyi Burluk direction in the Kharkiv region.

“Defense Forces troops eliminated Colonel Lebedev, commander of the 83rd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 69th Motorized Rifle Division of the Russian army, who was leading assault operations in the Velykyi Burluk area,” the statement reads.

The Russian command has not commented on the report.

It is worth noting that the situation east of Vovchansk has recently escalated: Russian forces have attempted to expand the line of contact and break through Ukrainian defenses toward Velykyi Burluk.

In particular, a July 15 report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) stated that Russian so-called “military bloggers” claimed that occupying forces had allegedly advanced west and south of Mylove and had conducted attacks near Velykyi Burluk in the Mylove area.

According to the analytical project DeepState, during the night of July 27, Russian occupation forces made minor advances in certain areas of Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. Enemy movements were noted near Vovchanski Khutory in Kharkiv region, as well as near Yablunivka and Orikhove in Donetsk region.
