Russian Assault On Zaporizhzhia Was Destroyed 8KM Before Reaching Front Line

Drones dominate again. Determined, battalion sized Russian assaults as part of an offensive in Zaporizhzhia oblast ended before the Russians even got to the front line. In fact, 8 kilometers before they neared the front line. 

The losses of Russian men and weaponry were significant - almost half of each. JL

Ukraine’s Defense Forces thwarted a major Russian offensive in Zaporizhzhya Oblast. The Russian assault group included at least 320 soldiers, 40 armored combat vehicles, three tanks, and about 10 buggies, drawn from several regiments of Russia’s 58th Combined Arms Army. Ukrainian air reconnaissance detected the enemy’s advance early, enabling drone and artillery strikes destroying 29 Russian combat vehicles and eliminating 140 enemy soldiers, while damaging three tanks. Ukrainian troops held all positions without lossesThe first Russian vehicles were hit eight kilometers from the line of contact.

Ukraine’s Defense Forces thwarted a major Russian offensive in Zaporizhzhya Oblast, where Russia deployed at least 320 assault troops and dozens of vehicles on April 16, according to the Southern Defense Forces’ Telegram post.

The Russian assault group included at least 320 soldiers, 40 armored combat vehicles, three tanks, and about 10 buggies, drawn from several regiments of Russia’s 58th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District.

The attack targeted the frontline near Pyatykhatky, Stepove, Lobkove, Mala Tokmachka, and Mali Shcherbaky in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

 

Ukrainian air reconnaissance detected the enemy’s advance early, enabling drone and artillery strikes. 

The first Russian vehicles were hit eight kilometers from the line of contact. The battle lasted over two and a half hours, with Ukrainian forces delivering continuous fire on the assault troops.

The Southern Defense Forces reported destroying 29 Russian combat vehicles and eliminating 140 enemy soldiers, while damaging three tanks. Ukrainian troops held all positions without losses, the report said.

 

Ukrainian military intelligence forces also eliminated 12 Russian troops attempting to storm positions near the town of Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhya Oblast, Ukraine’s HUR Defense Intelligence said.

The Group 10 unit from HUR’s Active Operations Department used FPV drones to take out the Russian forces, then cleared the area around the village of Shcherbaky, according to video footage released by the agency.

On April 14, units of the 17th Poltava Brigade of the National Guard, alongside other Defense Forces units, stopped another large-scale Russian assault in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
