Russia Evacuating Civilians In Areas Of Ukraine Cross-Border Attacks

While Russia denies anything is amiss and claims the cross-border incursion has been defeated with hundreds of casualties, the reality is that Russian authorities are evacuating civilians from the affected areas.

Russian troops and police reportedly fled rather than fight the anti-Putin/pro-Ukrainian Russian volunteers. JL

Valentyna Romanenko reports in Ukraine Pravda:

Authorities in the Russian Federation's Belgorod Oblast decided to evacuate local residents due to the operations carried out by Russian [pro-Ukrainian] military volunteer groups. The Ukrainian-alled Russian Volunteer Corps issued a call to all residents of Kursk and Bryansk oblasts who were unable to evacuate to seek shelter immediately. An intercepted conversation with a local resident indicates that the people of Grayvoron district, Belgorod Oblast are being evacuated.  "Uncle texted that buses are going. Grayvoron is being evacuated." There are casualties in the city.

Ukrainian Defence Intelligence (DIU) has reported that authorities in the Russian Federation's Belgorod Oblast decided to evacuate local residents due to the operations carried out by Russian [pro-Ukrainian] military volunteer groups.

Source: intercepted conversation of a resident of the Russian Federation, a fragment of which was provided to Ukrainska Pravda by a source in Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence

Details: An intercepted conversation with a local resident indicates that the people of Grayvoron, Grayvoron district, Belgorod Oblast, Russian Federation, are being evacuated.

Quote: "Uncle texted, basically, that buses are standing or going. Grayvoron is being evacuated.

Mom called me, Dima called. They said they were evacuating."

Details: Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod Oblast, reported on Telegram at 14:18 that "the Grayvoron city district was again attacked by the Armed Forces of Ukraine" (Russian authorities continue to stubbornly refuse to recognise that they are opposed by Russian volunteers). Gladkov stated there are casualties in the city.

At 15:30, he reported that an air-raid warning was issued in Belgorod Oblast.

Background:

  • On 13 March, Russian volunteer soldiers fighting on the Ukrainian side announced strikes on Russian military positions in Belgorod and Kursk and called on local residents to evacuate.
  • On 14 March, at 10:30, Denis Nikitin, the head and founder of the Russian Volunteer Corps, announced that Russian volunteers would open fire on Russian military targets in Belgorod and Kursk within an hour and a half.
  • The Russian Volunteer Corps then issued a call to all residents of Kursk and Bryansk oblasts who did not have time or were unable to evacuate to seek shelter immediately.

Russia's statement about the cross-border incursion is questionable, especially since they are evacuating civilians from the affected areas. The real situation suggests there's more happening than they're letting on. This story could impact SEO optimization for news outlets covering these events.
