Ukraine's Position On Pokrovsk Front Has Improved As Counterattacks Succeed

A growing number of reports indicate that Ukrainian forces position on the Pokrovsk front has improved and that the Ukrainian command is more confident, despite the fact that Pokrovsk has been Russia's primary focus of attack and reinforcement.

Devastating Russian losses of troops and equipment largely caused by Ukrainian drones and artillery are the primary reason for the Kremlin's setback. JL

New Voice of Ukraine reports:

The situation in the Pokrovsk sector has improved in recent days. Ukrainian forces reported retaking control of Pishchane, a village in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk Oblast. The 425th Skala Assault Regiment showed the clearance of Russian forces from Pishchane. DeepState analysts confirmed that Ukrainian forces had regained positions in two areas of the Pokrovsk sector.

The situation in the Pokrovsk sector has improved in recent days, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at the Munich Security Conference on Feb. 14.

This statement comes after a day earlier, in his evening address on Feb. 13, the president hinted at positive developments on the battlefield.

“There were important reports from our military today — crucial ones," Zelenskyy said then.

"We have good results on the front lines. It would be wrong to specify the geography, and I won’t turn this into a political statement."

“Without going into details, I can say that we feel more confident there than we did before,” he added.

On Jan. 10, the head of Pokrovsk’s military administration, Serhiy Dobryak, stated that the front line was just a few kilometers from the city, with nearly all critical infrastructure destroyed.

  • On Jan. 12, Ukrainian forces reported that Russian troops had changed tactics, attempting to bypass Pokrovsk from the south and west to reach Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
  • On Feb. 2, reports emerged that an entire group of Russian occupiers from the 1437th Motorized Rifle Regiment had fled the front lines near Pokrovsk.
  • On Feb. 6, Viktor Trehubov, a representative of Ukraine’s Khortytsia operational-strategic group, said Russian forces had suffered 7,000 irreversible losses in the Pokrovsk sector in January alone—more than in the entire Second Chechen War.
  • On Feb. 7, analysts from DeepState reported that Russian troops had advanced in two villages in the Pokrovsk district.
  • On Feb. 10, DeepState analysts confirmed that Ukrainian forces had regained positions in two areas of the Pokrovsk sector.
  • On Feb. 11, Ukrainian forces reported retaking control of Pishchane, a village in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk Oblast. The 425th Skala Separate Assault Regiment later shared a video purportedly showing the clearance of Russian forces from Pishchane.
