Ukraine Reinforces Pokrovsk As Russia Tries To Beat Weather, Trump Deadline

Ukraine is deploying additional reinforcements to the Pokrovsk sector as Russia focuses its efforts on that objective before autumn weather - and Donald Trump's deadline to Putin - put Russian forces in even greater difficulty. 

Reports from across the front indicate that the Kremlin's forces' efforts in most areas have decreased in order to try to (finally, after more than a year) to force Ukrainian units to withdraw. The Russians have failed to take the city and show no signs of being able to do so by assault and are now attempting to outflank it. The new Ukrainian reinforcements are mostly being assigned to stop that. JL

Ukrainian forces are sending reserves to Pokrovsk to hold off the Russian advance. "The Russians are trying to seize as much territory as possible before the weather shifts (and Donald Trump's deadline). It's clear in everything they do. A third of all daily clashes on the entire front are in the Pokrovsk area. As usual, they rely on infantry assaults, constantly pushing in small groups. Their main goal is to cut off the road to Dobropillya and take Pokrovsk. We understand that. Additional Ukrainian units are being deployed to hold the line."

Lieutenant Colonel Serhiy Tsekhotskyi, an officer with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, shared the information on Espreso TV.

"The enemy is highly active in the Pokrovsk direction. The Russians are trying to seize as much territory as possible before the weather shifts. It's clear in everything they do. Right now, most enemy assaults and breakthroughs are happening here. A third of all daily clashes are in the Pokrovsk area. As usual, they rely on infantry assaults, constantly pushing in small groups," Tsekhotskyi said.

He said Russian forces are clearly trying to encircle Pokrovsk, and the Ukrainian command is working to block those efforts.

"Their main goal is to cut off the road to Dobropillya and take Pokrovsk. We understand that. The Ukrainian Defense Forces command is doing everything to stop them. Additional Ukrainian units are now being deployed to hold the line near Pokrovsk," he added.
