Pokrovsk Front Stabilized As Dobropillya Infiltration Staunched By Ukraine Forces

A growing number of reports suggest that the situation around Pokrovsk, particularly the reported infiltration by Russian recon teams, has been stabilized and that Russian teams are being rolled back with casualties and surrenders. 

Similar incursions have occurred in various sectors in the past, but this one appears to have attracted more attention due to the upcoming meeting in Alaska between Putin and Trump. JL

Ukrainian officials report that the front line in the Pokrovsk sector of Donetsk region has stabilized. "The situation in the Dobropillya direction has stabilized and the front line is firmly held in the toughest sector of the front. On August 12, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi ordered the deployment of additional forces and equipment to neutralize sabotage groups in the Pokrovsk front, especially  to contain Russian forces in the Dobropillya direction.

Ukrainian officials report that the front line in the Dobropillya direction of Donetsk region has stabilized following recent Russian attacks

The head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and regional military administration, Vadym Filashkin, reported this on Telegram.

"The situation in the Dobropillya direction has stabilized. Thanks to the heroic efforts of our Defense Forces, the front line is firmly held. I thank everyone who, in this difficult moment, completed their mission in the toughest sector and set an example of resilience and professionalism," Filashkin said.

He added that regional authorities continue to support the troops, ensure community security, and carry on with their work.

  • On August 9, DeepState reported that Russian forces in Donetsk region were storming Dobropillya, using the 132nd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade, most of whose personnel are residents of the temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk region and migrants from Central Asia.
  • On August 12, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi ordered the deployment of additional forces and equipment to neutralize sabotage groups in the Pokrovsk direction.
  • Deputy Commander of Ukraine's  3rd Infantry Brigade Maksym Zhorin said, against the backdrop of escalation in the Dobropillya area, that the situation in the Pokrovsk direction was far from under control.
  • On August 13, it was reported that Russian forces were trying to capture Pokrovsk from the north and southwest. Ukraine has deployed reserves to contain Russian forces in the Dobropillya direction.
