German Patriot Missile Systems To Arrive In Ukraine This Week

Two more Patriot missile systems, provided by Germany but paid for by Denmark, Lithuania and Norway, are expected to arrive in Ukraine this week, further bolstering its air defenses and signaling European solidarity against Russia. JL

Alex Stezhensky reports in New Voice of Ukraine:

Ukraine will receive two Patriot air defense systems promised by Germany in the coming days. “The delivery of two MIM-104 Patriot launchers from Bundeswehr stockpiles to Ukraine is largely funded by Denmark, Lithuania, and Norway."  Germany first announced the decision to provide the systems in early August 2025. On Sept. 18, Ukraine’s public broadcaster reported that the first shipment of military equipment under the U.S.–NATO PURL program had already arrived in Ukraine.
Ukraine will receive two Patriot air defense systems promised by Germany in the coming days, the organization German Aid to Ukraine said on Nov. 1.

“The delivery of two MIM-104 Patriot launchers from Bundeswehr stockpiles to Ukraine — largely funded by Denmark, Lithuania, and Norway — is expected to be completed in the coming days,” the organization said in a statement.

Germany first announced the decision to provide the systems in early August 2025.

On Oct. 23, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged European nations to reconsider the delivery queue for Patriot air defense systems, arguing that some countries that already possess them are not using them as intensively as Ukraine is. Zelenskyy said Ukraine was ready to receive the systems immediately and would later return or replace them once its turn officially came.

According to Andrii Sybiha, deputy head of Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry, Kyiv currently needs at least 10 Patriot systems.

On Sept. 17, Zelenskyy said the first two military aid packages under the PURL program would include missiles for Patriot and HIMARS systems.

The following day, on Sept. 18, Ukraine’s public broadcaster Suspilne reported that the first shipment of military equipment under the U.S.–NATO PURL program had already arrived in Ukraine.
