Ukraine's Special Forces Use Surprise 'Copter Assault To Further Pokrovsk Clearing

Ukrainian special forces personally led on the ground by Ukrainian intelligence chief Kyrilo Budanov used a surprise assault in Blackhawk helicopters to turbocharge their clearing operation against Russian infiltrators around Pokrovsk. 

The operation was designed both to eliminate Russian saboteurs inside the city as well as further clear supply routes. Multiple Russian command claims about advances in that sector appear to have been exaggerated for the benefit of the Kremlin and the western media as further reports about Ukrainian counterattacks have emerged. Ukraine's military intelligence is conducting a daring counter-offensive near Pokrovsk to reopen key logistics lines. Ukraine landed special forces from the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces in Blackhawk helicopters to fight in embattled parts of  Pokrovsk earlier this week... The operation shows how Ukraine is battling to stabilise the situation. Ukrainian intelligence assault troops entered areas of the city that the Russians had declared allegedly captured. Ukrainian intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov personally led the operation on the ground.

Ukrainska Pravda reported the information with reference to an interlocutor in military intelligence.

On Saturday, November 1, the Russian Defense Ministry disseminated a statement claiming that Russian troops "stopped an attempt by Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate's special operations forces to land" in the Pokrovsk area, and all 11 people who landed from a helicopter were allegedly destroyed.

The publication noted that the statement about the destruction of the Ukrainian landing force does not correspond to reality. According to the source, stabilization actions led by intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov in the designated area of Pokrovsk are ongoing.

"This information is as false as Gerasimov's report to Putin a few days ago that Pokrovsk was surrounded," the source said.

What preceded this? 

Reuters and The Economist correspondent Oliver Carroll reported the information.

"Ukraine landed special forces to fight in embattled parts of the eastern city of Pokrovsk earlier this week... The operation shows how Ukraine is battling to stabilise the situation in the strategically important city after scores of Russian troops breached its perimeter this month," the publication says.

 

According to an agency source in the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces, Ukrainian special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate landed a few days ago by Black Hawk helicopter as part of an operation that was complicated by the activities of Russian drones.

According to another source, the operation was led by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov.

Correspondent Oliver Carroll published a video on the social network X, which allegedly shows the landing of troops from a helicopter. He added that the authenticity of these videos has not yet been verified. 

Previously, Suspilne and Zerkalo Tyzhnia, citing sources in the Defense Forces, reported that special forces and aviation of the Main Intelligence Directorate had launched an airborne operation in Pokrovsk. According to the publications' interlocutors, Ukrainian intelligence assault troops entered areas of the city that the Russians had declared allegedly captured.

Sources said that several helicopters were involved in the operation, and Budanov personally led it on the ground.
