Remember the pro-Ukrainian Russian Volunteer Corps which earlier in 2024 were giving Russia fits with their regular raids on Russia’s Belgorod oblast, sometimes taking several towns only to melt across the border back into Ukraine? They’re baaaack!!! And this time they’re on the Pokrovsky-Dniprovsky line kickin’ a** and taking prisoners. It is important to note that Russia captured Novomykhailivka in the Pokrovsky area in April, 2024. It is now once again Ukraine - in a little over a week.. Ukraine has regained control of the village of Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast, Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) has reported.
NOTE: I can hardly believe this news but it is important to note that Russia captured this village in the Pokrovsky area in April, 2024 ... two months after Avdiivka. It is now once again Ukraine … in a little over a week?. The Ukrainians tend to have the same name for several towns all over the place but if this is the Novomykhailivka near Kurakhove then this Ukrainian counter attack is truly amazing and is beginning to take on the makings of a COUNTER-OFFENSIVE. But will wait and see. Great news on Ukrainian Independence Day!

It is early yet in what I believe will eventually become the final battle for the Donetsk chain of heavily industrialized cities in 2025 … the so-called “Fortress Belt”. We do not know how the current fluid situation on the Pokrovsky line will turn out. We do know one thing for sure … the much ballyhooed Russian salient is donzo, caput, finito and all that good stuff.
General Syrskyi is back again in Pokrovsk this week with his corps commanders. And by the looks of things one can imagine they have in mind more than just scissoring off the ill-conceived Russian salient near Dobropillyia. The intensity with which Azov and the other AFU units are driving the Russians to me indicates that something bigger is in the offing. We will have to wait and see. No need to get ahead of our skis.
Whilst the two Azov formations … the 1st Corps Azov of the Ukraine National Guard(commander Denys Prokopenko) and the 3rd Army Corps Azov(commander Andriy Biletskiy) are getting much of the praise for their initial ferocious counter attack on the Russian salient, other units are in the fight and taking it to the Russians … all the way to the Dnipro and Zaporizhia lines. They too, will soon garner some accolades for themselves as this Ukrainian counter continues to roll on.

And this time they’re rockin’ and sockin’ it to Putin’s army on the Pokrovsky-Dniprovsky line … kickin’ a** and taking names along with prisoners, especially some of those funny Russian “actors” who have of late taken to sneaking in and out of places making propaganda videos of the Ukrainian towns they claim to have captured. The poor saps are getting killed and or captured for those silly stunts:
Ukrainian forces foil attempted Russian assault in Donetsk Oblast, pro-Ukraine Russian fighters take 16 prisoners
Fighters from the Russian Volunteer Corps captured 16 Russian service personnel during the assault and mop-up operations.
Some of the prisoners were "flag-bearers" who were supposed to film fake news reports about the "capture" of Ukrainian settlements, particularly the village of Andriivka-Klevtsove.
www.pravda.com.ua/...If the Russian advance into the Ukrainian defenses near Dobropillyia came as a surprise to the Ukrainian High Command, the intensity and ferocity of the Ukrainian counter-attack has without a doubt come as a surprise to General Andrey Mordvichev(commander-in-chief of Russian Ground Forces) and his senior field commanders in Ukraine … generals Gennady Anashkin, Andrei Maruskin, Sergey Ryzhkov, Sergei Milchakov, and Aleksandr Sanchik among others.
