Russia Didn't Launch Big Attack For Ukraine Independence Day. Because It Can't?

Russia was expected to launch a major attack on Ukrainian cities and civilians to mark its contempt for Ukraine's Independence Day, which is today. The US embassy urged all Americans to get out of the country. Ukraine braced itself.

But with a few hours to go, only one missile attack has occurred. Experts believe the absence of attacks on a symbolic date may be because Russia is running out of missiles and the weapons to launch them thanks to Ukrainian attacks on its logistics so has to husband its declining resources. JL

Phillips O'Brien comments on Twitter:

Still a few hours to go, but what Im seeing is Russia unable to do anything particular in Ukraine Independence Day. The whole point of Putin's invasion was to destroy not only Ukrainian independence, but its whole identity. Russia is losing, and doesnt know what to do about it.I hear people saying dont count chickens, a surprise might be coming etc. (But) surprise has been almost impossible for Russia to do at anytime in this war. Shoigu says Russia is deliberately slowing down its "special operation" speed of advancement b/c it wants to "avoid victims among civilians" Still a few hours to go, but what Im seeing is Russia unable to do anything particular in Ukraine Independence Day--that has to mean something. The whole point of Putin's was to destroy not only Ukrainian independence, but really its whole identity.

This seems very meaningful. Russia is losing, and doesnt know what to do about it. An independence day to celebrate.I do hear those people saying that, dont count chickens, a surprise might be coming etc. All I can say is that surprise has been almost impossible for Russia to do at anytime in this war. There only tactic has been brute force and destruction. Maybe they can change--I have doubts.

The trolls are getting very angry--just got this irate email...

"Russia military powess has enabled it to capture 25% of Ukraine destroyed every Himarssystem sent in fact entire NATO group has no answer to the Russian military which is just getting started don't talk rubbish and act as a US public relations manager"

Every HIMARS system destroyed! Darn--didnt know that. Thats it--changing my entire position.

Best political sign I've seen Russia knows it's losing the war:

Shoigu again says Russia is deliberately slowing down its "special operation" At a ministerial meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, he said Russia's speed of advancement is slowing down b/c it wants to "avoid victims among civilians"
