Failed Russian Attacks In Donetsk Are Suffering 60-70% Losses

Russian attacks borne of desperation to achieve any sort of territorial gain, no matter how minor - and to attempt to demonstrate, in vain, so far - that Russian forces possess offensive capabilities, are resulting in massive casualties, losses of increasingly scarce equipment - and without any demonstrable gains. Russian forces continue attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses in southern Donetsk. "Equipment advanced in four columns carrying troops, which were spotted by aerial reconnaissance on approach. As a result of artillery strikes and drone attacks, more than 100 Russian troops were killed and four tanks, nine APCs and three other armored vehicles were destroyed." And on April 14, 25 armored vehicles attacked another southern Donetsk sector.  Ukrainian troops managed to destroy 60 to 70% of the equipment.

Russian forces are continuing attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses in the South Donetsk area, according to Lt. Gen. Serhiy Naiev, commander of the Vuhledar tactical group on April 15.

During a recent large-scale assault near Vesele and Skudne, Russian forces deployed five tanks, 14 armored personnel carriers and six other armored vehicles, Ukrainian officials said.

"The equipment advanced in four columns carrying troops, which were spotted by aerial reconnaissance on approach. As a result of artillery strikes and drone attacks, more than 100 Russian troops were killed and four tanks, nine APCs and three other armored vehicles were destroyed," one official reported.Lt. Col. Oleksiy Belsky of the Vuhledar tactical group told NV that on April 14, a group of 25 armored vehicles attacked in the South Donetsk direction, and Ukrainian troops managed to destroy 60 to 70% of the equipment.

Belsky said Russian forces are continuing attempts to reach the borders

 

of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.

Earlier, Gen. Serhiy Naiev said Ukrainian forces had regained control of the village of Dniproenerhiia in Donetsk’s Volnovakha district and had improved their tactical position in two key areas.

It’s alarming to see how intense and costly these failed offensives in Donetsk have become. The scale of losses really puts things into perspective.
