Russian Troops Retreat On the Pokrovsk Front After Sustaining Significant Losses

Ukrainian forces' decimation of a major Russian mechanized attack that included 90 motorcycle-borne troops was probably not their last effort there, but it resulted in a forced retreat due to the significant casualties sustained in the assault. 

The continued failure of Russian offensives in this sector is causing, at least, a reappraisal and regrouping of the remaining Kremlin forces. JL

Russian troops are retreating on the Pokrovsk front on April 20 after sustaining significant losses, including the complete destruction of a 90-motorcycle assault unit. The Russians are not succeeding in this area, despite the significant resources they are focusing on the assaults. “An interesting element of the Pokrovsk [front] is that despite the fact that the Russians are making more efforts, they have the least success there.” Ukraine successfully repelled one of the most massive mechanized assaults by Russian troops in the Pokrovsk sector in recent times (after which), Russian troops began to retreat near Kotlyne and to the west of it.

Despite the fact that Russian troops continue to actively try to capture Pokrovsk, recent attempts have resulted in significant losses for Russia.

The Russians are not succeeding in this area, despite the significant resources they are focusing on the assaults.

 

"Pokrovsk remains the most intense sector," said Trehubov. “An interesting element of the Pokrovsk [front] is that despite the fact that the Russians are making more efforts, they have the least success there.”

According to him, a large assault recently took place, during which 90 motorcycles were involved, but all of them were destroyed along with the crew.

At the same time, Russian troops began to retreat near Kotlyne and to the west of it. Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold their positions, preventing the Russians from advancing on key frontiers.

Earlier, National Guard Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko said that fighters of the 14th Chervona Kalyna Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine had successfully repelled one of the most massive mechanized assaults by Russian troops in the Pokrovsk sector in recent times.
