Soldiers from the 2nd Marine Battalion released a video from Dachne, clearly showing their brigade’s flag raised over the village.
This action countered claims by Russian propagandists alleging that invasion forces had seized control of the settlement.
The flag is not merely a symbol but proof of the Defense Forces’ complete and unconditional control over the territory, according to Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
The marines vowed to hold their positions and fight to the end.
“This is a clear reminder to the enemy: we are here, and we are ready to fight to the end! We will not surrender a single meter of our land without a fight,” the military stated.
The public release of the video was a response to Russia’s recent information operation attempting to promote a narrative of “successes.”
Russian attempts to expand hostilities into Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
On July 5, the DeepState monitoring project reported that Russian forces captured the settlements of Zelenyi Kut and Novoukrainka in Donetsk Oblast, located near the administrative border with Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
DeepState noted that these villages are close to Dachne, where Russian forces have attempted to infiltrate with small sabotage groups. Ukrainian Defense Forces have deployed additional resources to prevent Russian troops from establishing a foothold in the area.
Analysts described the situation around Dachne as dynamic and tense, with Russian forces outnumbering Ukrainian defenders and conducting continuous assaults with small groups to break through defensive lines.
On July 2, reports circulated online claiming Russian occupiers had entered Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and established a foothold in Dachne. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, stated that as of the morning of July 2, Dachne remained under Ukrainian Defense Forces’ control.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine later refuted claims of Russian consolidation in Dachne, noting that small sabotage and reconnaissance groups had entered the village but were either destroyed or captured by Ukrainian forces.
Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, stated that fighting along the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast border has been ongoing for some time, but there is currently no threat to the city of Dnipro.
