A man who served under Ladnov, Junior Sergeant Andrey Mikhailovich Perevoshchikov, has given an account of what he says happened to the colonel. According to Perevoshchikov, Ladnov was deliberately sending his men to their deaths en masse and told them so in blunt terms.
