Ukrainian Sniper Sets World Distance Hit Record With Ukraine Rifle
It is fitting that the record should have been set this week at Porkvosk.
The previous record was also held by a Ukrainian sniper in 2023. JL
Defense Express reports:
On August 14, two days ago, fighters of the Pryvid sniper unit updated the world record for the range of a successful shot from a sniper rifle. Now the declared range is 4,000 meters, from which, using the 14.5 mm caliber "Alligator" rifle, two Russians were eliminated in the direction of defense of the cities of Pokrovsk - Myrnograd. The maximum range of a bullet when fired from the Ukrainian designed and made Alligator is 7 km.
At one time, such rifles were called anti-materiel rifles, because they were intended to destroy armored vehicles and fortifications, and the developers themselves said that it was possible to fire from them at a distance of up to 2 km, but reality dictated its requirements and revealed all the capabilities of Ukrainian weapons.
On August 14, the fighters of the combined sniper unit "Pryvid" updated the world record for the range of a successful shot from a sniper rifle. Now the declared range is 4,000 meters, from which, using the 14.5 mm caliber "Alligator" rifle, two Russians were eliminated in the direction of defense of the cities of Pokrovsk - Myrnograd.
This was reported by journalist and military man Yuriy Butusov, who attached a video of the sniper group's work and a video from a drone to the post about this episode. In addition, he reminded that the previous record also belonged to a Ukrainian, a fighter of the SBU unit, Vyacheslav Kovalsky, who used a Ukrainian rifle "Lord of the Horizon" to hit a sniper at a distance of 3,800 meters .
At the same time, "Alligator" is also a representative of large-caliber sniper rifles of Ukrainian production from "XADO-Holding". And at one time, Defense Express in 2021 managed to visit the enterprise, which was then located in Kharkiv, but has now been relocated.
"Alligator" is a magazine rifle in 14.5 mm caliber, although the video shows that one of the calculations feeds cartridges, which may be related to ensuring continuous fire after the magazine runs out. The barrel length of the "Alligator" is 1200 mm, the bullet speed at the muzzle is 980 to 1000 m/s. And the weight is 25 kg, while this mass fully corresponds to the caliber. With a lower weight of the rifle, the recoil would be much more noticeable, even taking into account the muzzle brake and the shock absorber spring in the butt.
At the same time, back in 2021, "XADO-Holding" declared that the range of a shot from the "Alligator" was 2 km. At the same time, it was believed that such weapons were necessary for destroying material objects, armored vehicles and fortifications. That is why such rifles were called "anti-material". But life has shown not only completely different requirements, but also the real capabilities of Ukrainian weapons, which have many times exceeded the estimates of their creators.
But still, it is necessary to take into account that the standard dispersion of the B-32 14.5x114 mm cartridge at a distance of 1.5 km is 1x1 meter. And when it comes to shooting at a distance of as much as 4 km, then even at the theoretical level one cannot do without a series of shots to achieve the appropriate result. At the same time, in general, the maximum range of a bullet when fired from the Alligator is 7 km.

And fast ones, while the target is still there, because then the job will be done by a 14.5 mm bullet with a core weighing over 63 grams, which at a range of 800 meters pierces 20 mm of armored steel, and at a distance of 4 km will overcome a wall. And apparently, this is exactly the result recorded on the video.
Incredible achievement! Setting a world record with a 4,000-meter sniper shot really showcases both the skill of Ukrainian snipers Retro Bowl and the impressive capabilities of the 'Alligator' rifle.
