NATO Officially Adopts Ukraine's Delta System As Network Battle Mgmt Platform

While Ukraine still has much to learn from NATO, it is now apparent that NATO recognized - after three plus years of war - it may have even more to learn from Ukraine.

In addition to drone warfare, one of Ukraine's greatest technological innovations has been its Delta combat management system, which helps coordinate intelligence in real time digital maps that make both offensive and defensive decision making more effective. helping Ukraine fight its much larger enemy to a draw - or better. JL

Decimus reports in Daily Kos:

NATO has officially adopted Ukraine’s DELTA combat management system as its network-centric battlefield management platform which integrates data from drones, sensors, satellite imagery, and intelligence sources to create a real-time digital map of the battlefield.  It was at the core of the just concluded NATO REPMUS/Dynamic Messenger 2025 exercise in Portugal. The adoption of Ukraine's DELTA combat system as the primary command platform for the joint team, demonstrating its compatibility with NATO standards and its role in coordinating over 100 unmanned platforms across multiple domains was the key outcome of the exercise.

Whilst the politicians in the capitals of some NATO countries continue to cavil and inveigh against Ukraine’s future membership in NATO, the experts and soldiers on the ground know a good thing when they see it.  Like Finland and Sweden earlier on, Ukraine is slowly but inexorably on the march to taking her place at the core of not only the emerging new European defense architecture but also NATO’s.

As retired French General Michel Yakovleff, former Deputy Chief of Staff of NATO’s Rapid Reaction Corps said:

“The Strongest Army Among NATO Countries Is Not in NATO”

Speaking to Ukrinform on June 25, Yakovleff emphasized that Ukraine’s military has surpassed NATO in key areas of modern warfare.

While NATO still has advantages in maneuver warfare, Ukraine is ahead in fields like drone operations, reconnaissance, and frontline adaptability.

Yakovleff stressed that Ukraine’s value to NATO goes far beyond its military size.

“It will reshape NATO’s understanding of modern warfare,” he said. “The new member of the club won’t have that modesty, because it will know for certain that NATO owes something to Ukraine—not the other way around.”

Ukraine in NATO is now just a mere question of when not if.  Putin and his minions in the Kremlin and elsewhere abroad are destined to lose this battle, too.

In 2025 alone, NATO has conducted naval exercises involving Ukraine, principally the "Sea Shield" drill, led by Romania in the Black Sea and Danube River delta, which involved over 2,300 troops from 12 NATO countries, including the United States, France, and the United Kingdom, aiming to strengthen collaboration among allied naval, air, and land forces. As well the recently concluded "Sea Breeze 25-2" exercise, held in Portland, United Kingdom, supported the development of Ukraine’s mine countermeasures capabilities, with participation from Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Greece, Latvia, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and the United States. I posted a diary about "Sea Breeze 25-2" here:

But now, NATO has officially adopted Ukraine’s DELTA combat management system as its network-centric battlefield management platform which integrates data from drones, sensors, satellite imagery, and intelligence sources to create a real-time digital map of the battlefield.  It was at the core of the just concluded(September 29) NATO REPMUS/Dynamic Messenger 2025 exercise in Troia and Sesimbra, Portugal. Ukrainian DELTA technology becomes core command platform in NATO exercises

"This is proof of our ability to rapidly adapt to any combat situation at sea, on land, or in the air,"

It is worth noting, for historical purposes, that DELTA itself was initially championed and tested by NATO.  But the Ukrainian military under General Valerii Zaluzhnyi took it much further and made it more formidable.  By the time Putin and Russia invaded in February 2022, DELTA was ready:

[as a] NATO initiative "to wean troops off Russian standards of siloing information among ground units instead of sharing it". Ukraine surprised NATO in quickly making this system even more accessible to troops than "more modern militaries". Delta, in its prototype phase, was first "pressed to its limits" during the Ukrainian counteroffensive to the Russian Kyiv convoy. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry credits Delta for helping identify 1500 confirmed Russian targets daily during this time period.

ADAPTIVE INDOMITABLE UKRAINE is just simply amazing in how they take whatever technology is available and with native smarts, skill and ingenuity innovate it to world class and cutting edge.  People like that cannot be defeated.  Putin may not know it(yet) but NATO knows.
