Ukraine HIMARS Strike Destroys 30 Russian Vehicles Attempting Attack On Pokrovsk

And so for the Russian military, the new year began as the old one ended: with a failed assault resulting in massive Russian casualties.

More than 30 units of Russian military equipment were destroyed during the enemy’s attempt to seize the Ukrainian village of Hryshyne in Donetsk Oblast’s Pokrovsk front. Russia’s 76th Airborne Assault Division attempted to use the logistics route between Shevchenkove and Pokrovsk to transport additional troops and supplies to the area. The remaining vehicles were later detected and eliminated on the southeastern outskirts of Pokrovsk as Russian troops attempted to take cover.

More than 30 units of Russian military equipment were destroyed during the enemy’s attempt to seize the Ukrainian village of Hryshyne in Donetsk Oblast’s Pokrovsk front sector, the 7th Rapid Response Corps of Ukraine’s Airborne Assault Forces reported on Jan. 2, posting on Telegram a video of the failed attack.

Russia’s 76th Airborne Assault Division attempted to use the logistics route between Shevchenkove and Pokrovsk to transport additional troops and supplies to the area. The attack involved more than 30 units of light military equipment, including motorcycles, buggies, and other motor vehicles.

Ukrainian forces destroyed some of this equipment as it approached Pokrovsk. Some of the strikes were carried out using M142 HIMARS systems.

 

The remaining vehicles were later detected and eliminated on the southeastern outskirts of Pokrovsk as Russian troops attempted to take cover.

According to Ukrainian defenders, the Russian objective is to increase pressure on the northern outskirts of Pokrovsk before attempting to storm Hryshyne.

On Dec. 27, Ukraine’s General Staff debunked Russian claims that Huliaipole, Myrnohrad, and Pokrovsk had been captured. The defense of Pokrovsk has been ongoing for 17 months, during which Russian forces have suffered heavy losses.
