Due To Heavy Losses in Northern Ukraine, Russian Army Misleads Kremlin

Desperate to claim they are making gains along the front this summer, the Russian command has issued a series of misleading reports of advances both to the media - and, according to independent analysts - the Kremlin. 

Objective reports indicate that Russian attacks on the northern Kursk and Kharkiv fronts have been repeatedly repulsed with heavy losses. JL

Ukraine's Border Guards eliminated seven Russian assault groups on the Kursk front. Russian forces sent the assault groups into battle one after another, but Ukrainian troops repelled each of them. Institute for the Study of War has reported that Russian military command is misleading the Kremlin about the scale of the occupying army's "successes" in northern Ukraine in order to reinforce a narrative of an active Russian offensive along the entire front line.

Ukraine's State Border Guard Service’s troops eliminated seven Russian assault groups on the North Slobozhanskyi front, the agency reported on Aug. 2, releasing video footage of the operation.

Troops from the 4th Border Guard Detachment also destroyed three vehicles and three enemy shelters. Russian forces sent the assault groups into battle one after another, but Ukrainian troops repelled each of them, according to the report. 

Separately on Aug. 2, Ukraine's General Staff said Ukrainian forces had stopped four enemy assaults over the past day on the North Slobozhanskyi and Kursk fronts. During that period, Russian forces carried out four airstrikes using 12 guided aerial bombs and conducted 61 attacks on Ukrainian military positions and populated areas, including four strikes with multiple rocket launch systems, the General Staff said. 

The U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War has reported that Russian military command is misleading the Kremlin about the scale of the occupying army's "successes" in northern Ukraine in order to reinforce a narrative of an active Russian offensive along the entire front line.

Russia's Northern Troop Grouping has claimed that its units captured the villages of Nova Sich, Mala Slobidka and Mohrytsia in Ukraine's Sumy Oblast, as well as Virivka in Kharkiv Oblast. Russian military command has claimed the capture of a new settlement in northern Ukraine at least once since July 22. Ukraine's Defense Forces have denied claims that Nova Sich, Mala Slobidka, and Mohrytsia were captured.
