Russia Suffers Record 42, 860 Loss In July, With KIA 14 Times Higher Than Ukraine's

Ukrainian forces inflicted a record number of casualties on the Kremlin in July - 42,860 - as Russians killed in action are 14 times as high as those of Ukraine. 

At the start of the year, Ukraine's established goal was 50,000 Russian casualties a month - far more than the Kremlin could recruit to replace its losses. Russian losses have exceeded 30,000 per month since the start of 2026. At 42,000 Russian casualties, the Ukrainians are getting close to the level where Russia can no longer field sufficient troops, which is why Putin wants more North Koreans and may be forced to impose a politically unpopular mass mobilization. Over the first seven months of 2026 as a whole, Russia's personnel losses totaled 238,650. General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russian forces suffered record personnel losses in July 2026, the highest since the start of the year – 42,860 people.

Details: Monthly dynamics of Russia's personnel losses in 2026 are as follows:

• January: 31,710 service members
• February: 26,090 service members
• March: 31,960 service members
• April: 32,980 service members
• May: 33,760 service members
• June: 39,290 service members
• July: 42,860 service members (a record figure for 2026)

The General Staff said that, over the first seven months of 2026 as a whole, Russia's personnel losses totalled 238,650. Russian military losses in the war are significantly higher than those of Ukraine's Defense Forces. Even so, the exact figures remain unknown, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with Fox News.

An American journalist asked the head of state whether he knew the approximate losses suffered by the Russian forces during more than four years of the full-scale war.

"So, their losses 1.6 million, and about 700,000 killed. About," Zelenskyy replied. 

The journalist then asked whether the President of Ukraine could disclose the losses of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

According to Zelenskyy, that is very difficult to do.

"And then compared to Ukraine? Compared to Ukraine, it's really very difficult to say. Sorry, be honest, I don't want to be very open about it because Russians will understand what's going on with our army. So we have about 50,000 soldiers killed, and we had about 400,000 wounded," the Ukrainian leader explained.

In effect, Zelenskyy confirmed that Russia's military death toll is approximately 14 times higher than Ukraine's.

He also noted that there are a very large number of people listed as missing.

Recently, Zelenskyy also announced that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is preparing many systemic changes on the front line.
