Paratroopers of the 46th Airmobile Brigade together with neighboring brigades smashed a mechanised convoy of Russian troops attempting an assault to establish positions along railway lines in Pokrovsk to enable further advances. A unit from the 3rd Special Operations Regiment was deployed to carry out the mission. During the operation, Ukrainian forces killed two additional Russian soldiers who had been hiding in dugouts, the statement said.
“Despite heavy Russian artillery fire, our group successfully completed the task and prevented the enemy from securing its planned positions,” the Special Operations Forces said.
Ukraine’s top military commander, Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi, said Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold back Russian advances in the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad urban area despite intensified pressure from Russian troops, Dec. 13.
Earlier, the 7th Air Assault Corps reported that assault troops from the Skelia Regiment raised a Ukrainian flag in central Pokrovsk, Dec. 11.
Ukrainska Pravda reported, citing two sources on the Pokrovsk front, that all roads Ukrainian units could use to withdraw from Myrnohrad are currently in the so-called gray zone, Dec. 10. Russian forces recently seized part of the village of Rivne, one of two settlements critical to logistics in the area, the outlet said.
