Captured Russian Recon Troops Near Toretsk Report Only 60 Of 500 Men Remain

Ukrainian defenders captured elite Russian reconnaissance troops near Toretsk. “These decorated and experienced scouts resisted Azov fighters for several days. Eventually, the group commander was neutralized, and his subordinates surrendered.” The prisoners admitted their training was poor. “We’ve suffered heavy losses because of it. Out of 500 men, only 60 remain." The captured soldiers revealed they had orders from their commanders to execute prisoners of war and civilians.

Ukrainian defenders captured five elite Russian reconnaissance troops near Toretsk, the Azov 12th Special Operations Brigade reported, releasing interrogation footage.

According to Azov, infantry from the brigade’s 2nd Battalion captured the Russian recon troops after a battle.

“These decorated and experienced scouts resisted Azov fighters for several days. Eventually, the group commander was neutralized, and his subordinates chose life, surrendering as prisoners of war,” Azov reported. The captured soldiers revealed details about their operations against Ukraine, including orders from their commanders to execute both prisoners of war and civilians.

“We realized we had been thrown into your rear lines,” said another soldier, who was the unit leader.

The prisoners admitted their training was poor. “We’ve suffered heavy losses because of it. Out of 500 men, only 60 remain. That’s it. You can understand how bad things are,” one of them said.
