Ukraine Is Destroying Russian Attacks That Follow Previous Defeated Assault Routes

Russian forces are following a pattern, attacking along routes that are mined, under drone surveillance and in which previous assaults have been defeated.

The Russian command appears to believe they can wear the Ukrainians down using these tactics, but the scale of Russian losses suggests that it is unlikely to succeed in time to meet Putin's impending Trump-imposed deadline. JL

Militarnyi reports:

The Russian military command sent armored vehicles and infantry to attack Vyimka in the Siversk sector along mined roads and fields where other assault groups had been previously defeated. Using drone surveillance and artillery, Ukraine's Mountain Assault Brigade (Edelweiss) destroyed all the armored vehicles of the Russian assault group. Then the invaders tried to advance with infantry, which was already being targeted by FPV drones. The Ukrainian soldiers also used incendiary shells from drones. “All these attacks were repelled with devastating losses for the enemy.”

In the Donetsk region, near the village of Vyimka, Russian assault groups were defeated by soldiers of the Edelweiss Brigade.

The brigade’s 109th Separate Mountain Assault Battalion reported that the battle took place on December 14.

However, this did not deter the Russian invaders, and they tried to advance as far as possible along mined roads and under artillery fire.

The Ukrainian military destroyed all the armored vehicles of the Russian armored group. Then the invaders tried to advance with infantry, which was already being targeted by FPV drones.

“All these attacks were repelled with devastating losses for the enemy,” the battalion representatives said.

Ukrainian soldiers also used incendiary shells from drones, which are used to destroy fortifications where enemy infantry is hiding.

The situation in the Siverskyi sector remains tense: the enemy continues attempts to break through the defense of Ukrainian forces, and in some areas has had some success, such as in the direction of Vyimka.

Deteriorating weather conditions and natural features favor Russian use of its forces at a time when it is very difficult to use drones.

On December 17, the Ukrainian General Staff reported that in the Siverskyi sector, the enemy attacked 16 times near Bilohorivka, Verkhnekamianske, Ivan-Daryne, Spirne and Siversk over the past day. Four clashes are still ongoing.

Recently, in the Pokrovske area, the 33rd Separate Battalion’s assault troops managed to conduct a successful operation and capture an enemy dugout.
