Huiaipole "Clogged With Russian Corpses" As Ukraine Counterattacks

Huliaipole is yet another in a growing list of Ukrainian cities which the Kremlin prematurely claimed to have captured (Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad et al) that turn out to be stoutly defended by Ukrainian forces and remain at least partly in Kyiv's hands.

Ukraine rapidly redeployed elite airborne and special forces troops who shored up threatened strong points and then launched effective counterattacks on undersupplied and manned Russian units. The result is that Huliaipole's streets are now reportedly 'clogged with Russian corpses,' who unsuspectedly met their fate at the hands of drones, artillery and infantry ambushes. The Ukrainian counterattacks and clearing operations are continuing as they have elsewhere on the front. JL

TCH reports:

Huiaipole has turned into a large gray zone. The Russian advance has slowed sharply. Russian forces are being forced to accumulate reserves because the rate at which they are being eliminated by Ukraine’s Forces exceeds the speed at which they are replenished. “It is a meat grinder. The Russians are stuck. Putin chose Huliaipole to strengthen his diplomatic position when he reported that the city had already been taken,” but Ukrainian forces were rapidly redeployed there, are holding their positions and carrying out clearing operations, while Russian troops are suffering particularly heavy losses.

The pace of the Russian advance has slowed sharply. Russian forces are being forced to accumulate reserves because the rate at which they are being eliminated by Ukraine’s Defense Forces exceeds the speed at which they are replenished.

This was stated on air by Dmytro Zhmailylo, executive director of the Ukrainian Centre for Security and Cooperation, speaking to 24 Kanal.

The expert said the total number of Russian troops on Ukrainian territory currently stands at between 709,000 and 712,000. Russia has completed a new mobilisation drive, recruiting more than 400,000 contract soldiers, but this has failed to deliver the expected results on the battlefield. The enemy suffered particularly heavy losses in the south, the expert said.

“On the Zaporizhzhia front, Ukraine’s Defense Forces chewed up 10,000 Russian invaders,” Zhmailo stressed.

Russian setback near Kupiansk and defense of Pokrovsk

The expert said Russian units had failed to carry out a strategic operation in the Kupiansk sector of the Kharkiv region. Moreover, Ukrainian defenders conducted successful counteroffensive actions there, which significantly strengthened Ukraine’s negotiating position.

The situation remains difficult in the Donetsk region. In the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration, the occupiers are bogged down, although Ukrainian troops are forced to hold the defense under extremely difficult conditions. Because of failures in these areas that the Kremlin came up with the idea of increasing pressure in another direction.

Huliaipole: "meat grinder" and Putin’s lies

Zhmailo drew particular attention to the situation in Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region. Russian forces managed to push back one Ukrainian unit at an early stage, forcing the line of contact to be rebuilt. To slow the enemy, assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were rapidly redeployed there.

Huliaipole has now turned into a large “grey zone”.

According to the expert, the city is divided into sectors. Ukrainian forces are holding their positions and carrying out clearing operations, while Russian troops are trying to “spread” through the city.

“There is a large meat grinder going on there. The Russians are somewhat stuck in it. Putin chose Huliaipole precisely to strengthen his diplomatic position when he appeared in military uniform and reported that the city had already been taken,” the expert concluded.

The real situation indicates that Kremlin statements about full control of the city are yet another fake.
