Ukrainian forces crushed the year's largest Russian motorcycle assault near Slovyansk, thwarting a breakthrough and destroying enemy infantry, the 81st Airmobile Brigade reported on April 1.

Russian troops deployed 16 motorcycles, operating in small groups of three to four vehicles, hoping to break through Ukrainian positions, the brigade noted.

However, thanks to timely detection and coordinated actions, the assault was thwarted, and part of the infantry that decided to dismount was destroyed.

The situation in this direction remains tense, the Air Assault Forces added. Russians continue to amass forces, attempt to improve their positions, and complicate logistics by using UAVs and remote mining systems.

"Despite mounting pressure, soldiers of the 81st Brigade of the 7th Air Assault Corps continue to detect and destroy the occupiers," military emphasized.

Russian troops are preparing personnel and armored vehicles for a possible offensive in the Slovyansk direction while continuing to press with small groups, the 81st Airmobile Brigade reported on March 14.

Russian invaders began actively using heavy bomber hexacopters, similar to the Ukrainian Vampire, in the Slovyansk direction to distract attention and complicate reconnaissance, Air Assault Forces said on March 6.

Russian troops began artillery and drone preparation for a spring-summer offensive on Donbas fortress cities, which could become a multi-year operation with heavy losses for the Kremlin,  ISW wrote in a Feb. 27 report.

Specifically, Russian units are amassing reinforcements in the Slovyansk area and shelling the suburbs in preparation for a ground offensive on key Ukrainian defense positions, analysts emphasized.
