Dozens Of Russians Killed by Ukraine Border Guards In Failed Kharkiv Oblast Assault

Russian forces, under pressure to demonstrate some sort of forward momentum, however fleeting or even imaginary, have stepped up attacks north of Kharkiv. 

But the result has just been additional casualties as Ukrainian drone forces and border guards find and then eliminate the small groups of Russian infantry attempting to burrow into bombed out basements in order to claim an advance. JL

Russian forces intensified their assaults in northern Kharkiv oblast. Over the past week, the 1st Mobile Border Guard detachment killed or injured 155 Russian soldiers in the area. Ahead of the elections in Russia, Russian armed forces “need to show some results,” which is why they became more active north of Kharkiv. Russia has recently claimed the capture of several Ukrainian settlements north of Kharkiv, which are in fact under the control of Ukraine's border guards. "They are moving in small infantry groups and trying to gather in any cellars that have survived in settlements near the border."

Russian forces intensified their assaults in northern Kharkiv oblast. Over the past week, the 1st mobile border guard detachment Hart killed or injured 155 Russian soldiers in this area, Oleksandr Danylenko, the spokesperson of the Hart, told Armiia TV.

Danylenko said that, ahead of the elections in Russia, Russian armed forces “need to show some results,” which is why they became more active north of Kharkiv. 

For the first time since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, elections to the State Duma will be held in Russia on Sep. 20. The unlawful elections will also take place in the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine, including the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Luhansk regions.

Danylenko added that the Russians are continuing last year’s tactic of advancing in small infantry groups:

“They are moving in groups of two soldiers and trying to gather in any cellars or basements that have survived in the settlements near Ukraine’s state border. We surrounded eight Russian soldiers,” he said.

Danylenko talked about Russia’s recent claims regarding the capture of several Ukrainian settlements north of Kharkiv, which are in fact under the control of Hart’s soldiers.

According to Danylenko, Russian troops also use “waiting drones” to target Ukrainian forces’ vehicles in northern Kharkiv oblast. These are modified FPV drones that hide in roadside ambushes and wait for their target in standby mode. Russians also utilize fiber-optic FPVs as “waiting drones,” which means they’re undetectable by electronic warfare.
