Russians Pushed Back 6.8 Kms At Toretske on Pokrovsk Front

The implication of this within the context of broader Ukrainian advances is arguably more important than this local success itself because it indicates that Ukrainian forces have seized the initiative in a number of sectors and that the Russians are struggling to contain the Ukrainian attacks. JL

New Voice of Ukraine reports:
Ukrainian  forces cleared Russian troops from near Toretske in the Shakhove district's Donetsk Oblast’s Pokrovsk sector. “The map has been updated. Ukraine’s Defense Forces cleared the area near Toretske.”  DeepState's maps show that the area of the penetration zone (the gray zone) decreased by 6.79 square kilometres over the day – from 235.93 square kilometres to 229.14 square kilometres.

Ukrainian forces cleared Russian troops from an area near Toretske in Donetsk Oblast’s Pokrovsk district, battlefield monitoring group DeepState reported on Sept. 23.

“The map has been updated. Ukraine’s Defense Forces cleared the area near Toretske,” the statement said, referring to a village in the Shakhove rural community of Pokrovsk district in Donetsk Oblast.

Operation Vivaldi

On Sept. 15, 3rd Army Corps commander Andrii Biletskyi publicly confirmed for the first time that Ukrainian forces were conducting an offensive in northern Donetsk Oblast. The operation was named Vivaldi. Officials confirmed that Ukrainian forces had cleared 75 square kilometers (29 square miles) and liberated 10 square kilometers (4 square miles).

Russian losses at that stage of the operation totaled about 1,500 troops, more than 12,000 drones and hundreds of armored vehicles, artillery systems and other vehicles, according to Ukraine’s Defense Forces. Ukrainian units cut Russian logistics routes and forced Russian forces to move fuel supplies outside Ukraine.

In addition to the officially confirmed liberation of Serednie and the clearing of the villages of Korovii Yar, Novoselivka, Yarova and Oleksandrivka, Ukrainian forces also cleared Rai-Oleksandrivka and several other settlements. Horbatenko said much of the information must remain “secret” for now.

On Sept. 20, 3rd Army Corps commander Andrii Biletskyi confirmed the liberation of the villages of Shandryholove and Derylove and the establishment of full control over Drobysheve as part of Operation Vivaldi.
